Dear Parents/Carers,

As we reach the end of Module 3, we reflect on the various activities and learning opportunities that have taken place in this module for both students and staff.

We were delighted to welcome Tracey Trusler, Leigh Academies Director, along with a Principal from another Academy in Leigh Academies Trust, for her regular monitoring visit and we were very pleased with their feedback. They spoke of the high-quality teaching and learning experiences provided to students and thoroughly enjoyed touring the Academy and meeting with both staff and students. Curriculum Advisors from the Leigh Academy Trust have also visited this module, ensuring that we continue to offer the best possible curriculum within which our students can flourish.

Students in Key Stage 3 have been inspired throughout this module through their interdisciplinary projects. This is a core part of the IB MYP Programme and allows cross-curricular work to happen between departments, solidifying students’ knowledge and understanding of topics and how these can be interrelated across the subjects.

Students in the older years continue to impress us in how they apply themselves to their studies. They have retained the key elements of their learning from Key Stage 3 and embody the IB learner profile, showing that they are true balanced thinkers who operate in a caring and reflective manner. This has been an important module for our Year 13 students as they finalise their UCAS applications and await the outcomes so that they can plan for their futures.

This module has also seen the students enjoying over 30 extracurricular clubs every week. We have had early morning clubs as well as a huge range at the end of the day. It is pleasing to see great numbers in attendance at these clubs which give students further opportunity to develop their knowledge and skills through activities that they enjoy.

A reminder that Friday 9th February 2024 is an Academy INSET day. The Academy will be closed to all students for staff training and development.

The Academy will re-open to all students at the usual time on Monday 19th February 2024 after the Early Spring Break. We look forward to welcoming back all students in full Academy uniform and on time, ready to start their learning.

Please do keep in touch with your child’s Small School if you require any support, and have a restful half-term holiday.

Yours faithfully,

Ben Russell
Principal
