Dear Parents/Carers,

As we reach the end of Module 4, I am writing to inform you of the arrangements for the last day of term.

We would like to congratulate the Hawking and Turing small schools on their joint victory in the academy’s recent Comic Relief competition.  The winning small schools have decided that students can wear a colour of their choice for Own Clothes Day which will be held on Thursday 1st April 2021. Students should therefore follow the guidance for own clothes day as detailed below:

Students’ clothing must be appropriate and suitable for wearing to school.  Short skirts, shorts or revealing, tight garments are not acceptable nor is clothing that overexposes parts of the body e.g. stomach, chest etc. or clothing that is transparent.  Students must not wear clothing with inappropriate slogans or designs. Hats of any description (including bandannas and durags) are not allowed to be worn.

Students are required to make a £1 donation for Own Clothes Day but all contributions are welcome.  The donations will be sent to Comic Relief, a charity that continues to make a difference to the lives of millions of people across the UK and around the world.   Donations can be made by dropping a £1 into the collection buckets at the academy gates.

After a really successful return to the academy our high standards and learning expectations continue. Attendance is mandatory.   We are proud of our attendance at The Halley Academy which is currently above the national average.  All non-attendance will be followed up.  The timings of the day for Thursday 1st April 2021 will be a normal full-length academy day.  Students must come to school fully prepared for learning with their Chromebook, stationery, PE Kit (if they have PE on Thursday), face mask and sanitiser.

On behalf of all the staff, I would like to thank you for your continued support and wish you and your families a very happy and restful Easter break.

We look forward to welcoming all our students back to the academy on Monday 19th April 2021 at 8.25am.

Yours faithfully,

John Dixon

Principal
