As you may be aware, the Government has updated the guidance regarding the wearing of face masks in schools from Monday 17th May. Schools have been advised that face coverings will no longer be recommended for students in classrooms or communal areas where social distancing cannot be maintained. Furthermore, staff will no longer need to wear face coverings in classrooms. However, in response to particular localised outbreaks, it may be advisable to continue to require face coverings to be worn in all internal areas.
In discussion with Public Health England this week and due to the current cases of COVID-19 that you have been made aware of within the Academy, our procedures will remain unchanged for the time being.
Our decisions are fully supported by the teaching and support staff unions within The Halley Academy and the Royal Borough of Greenwich. We have a shared understanding that the health and safety of all in the Academy community remains our number one priority.
If you would like to discuss this further please contact us using the email@example.com email.
Students will continue their learning and extra-curricular activities in year group bubbles and, should the guidance on this be updated, we will inform you of any changes we make. The guidance also recommends that students continue to wear face coverings, unless exempt, on public transport, therefore please ensure that your child has a face covering as necessary.
We will review our operational procedures on a weekly basis and will communicate to all stakeholders should anything change.
Thank you all for your continued support.
