Update Following Government Announcement

Dear Parents/Carers

In response to the announcement made on Monday by the Prime Minister, The Halley Academy, alongside all other schools and academies in England, will be closed until at least Monday 22nd February 2021.  This is in the context of the conditions of the latest national lockdown due to COVID-19.  We will continue to monitor the situation and communicate any further arrangements as necessary.

As has been the case in my previous communications, those students who are children of critical workers or who are vulnerable children are able to continue to attend the academy.  All parents/carers of children of critical workers or vulnerable children must complete the form using this link here, which will assist us to plan effectively. If you have already completed the form, you are not required to do this again.  If you have indicated that you would like your child to attend but your circumstances change, please inform us via admin@thehalleyacademy.org.uk

Our current arrangements for children in receipt of Free School Meals remain.  Food Parcels for lunch are available and should be requested here.  Once the form has been completed, a member of your child’s Small School will contact you to provide further information.

If you need assistance with food provision please use either of the following services which can provide assistance:

Good Food in Greenwich https://www.goodfoodingreenwich.org/access-to-food

Fare Share https://fareshare.org.uk/what-we-do/

All students will continue to follow their current timetable of online learning with lessons uploaded daily, and specific tasks to be submitted via Google Classroom. Please support your child in continuing with their lessons and encourage them to maintain good learning routines. This will enable a smooth transition for students when they return to their learning on-site.  If you have any questions or queries regarding the online learning at home, please contact the Academy via home.learning@thehalleyacademy.org.uk

I understand that this may be a very trying time for families and I want to assure you that The Halley Academy is here for any support you may need.  The academic progress of our students and the personal welfare of everyone in the community is extremely important to us, and we will continue to work together with you.

Please do keep in touch with your child’s small school if you require any support, and I hope you and your family keep safe during this time.

Yours faithfully,

John Dixon | Principal
