Year 11 GCSE Drama Students Blood Brothers Theatre Trip Opportunity

A small group of students are pictured sitting together on the school grounds, smiling and having a discussion.

Dear Parents / Carers,

An exciting cross curricular opportunity has arisen for our Year 11 GCSE Drama students to see the production of ‘Blood Brothers’ on Wednesday 22nd February 2023 at Richmond Theatre. The AQA GCSE Drama qualification encourages students to see a range of live theatrical performances so that they can confidently analyse playscripts and live theatre production. Blood Brothers is the chosen text for Section B of their Component One examination. This is an exciting opportunity for our students to enrich their learning and see the performance studied in school delivered on stage is being supported through our close links to the Tallow Chandlers Company, who will be covering the cost of the tickets and travel for the Year 11 GCSE students.

We will travel to the theatre by coach, leaving the Academy at 12.00 pm.  The performance begins promptly at 2.30 pm and lasts approximately 2 hours 45 minutes, including an interval.  Please ensure your child has lunch with them on this date, as we will be leaving the Academy before their lunchtime.  A packed lunch will be provided if your child is in receipt of free school meals.   We anticipate returning to The Halley Academy, by coach, at approximately 7.00 pm.

There is no cost attached to this trip for GCSE Year 11 students,  if however, your child would like to bring some additional money to purchase a snack / beverage during the interval, please ensure they have this with them on the day.

Please complete this Google Form, indicating if your child will be collected from the Academy or whether you are happy for them to travel home independently.

Yours faithfully

Ms K Thompson
