Bedrock Learning

Three students are seen sitting down on a bench outdoors on the academy grounds, conversing with one another.

Dear Parents/Carers,

As part of the academy’s ongoing commitment to literacy, we have invested in a new digital literacy platform called Bedrock Learning. This programme will help students to learn the language skills they need to succeed at the academy and beyond. This programme has specific focuses on vocabulary, grammar, reading and writing – the core bedrocks of literacy learning.

Bedrock is a motivational and interactive programme, with students awarded points for the amount of reading they complete. Students will be expected to achieve at least 40 points, which should take approximately 40 minutes each week; some of this will be undertaken as part of their weekly tutor time programme. Learners will accrue points for any work started or completed within Bedrock Vocabulary and Grammar areas. Learning will also be set by your child’s English teacher as homework.

Students are able to log into the programme by selecting the “Log in with Google” option on the Bedrock homepage.

As a parent/guardian, you will be able to follow your child’s progress by viewing their Knowledge Organiser within the Bedrock platform. You can also receive weekly progress reports on your child’s progress via email when you create your Bedrock Guardian account. A separate letter containing login details to enable you to create a Guardian account will be emailed in the coming days.

You can find out more information about Bedrock Learning at www.bedrocklearning.org. Additionally, If you wish to discuss this programme with the Academy’s Literacy Coordinator, please email your child’s Small School.

Yours faithfully,

Ms D. Mumba
Coordinator for Literacy
