Dear Parent/Carer

Year 11 Information Evening – Thursday 20th October 2022 (4:30pm to 6:00pm)

I am writing to invite you to a Year 11 Information Evening on Thursday 20th October from 4:30pm to 6:00pm. This evening is designed to provide you and your child with important information on their GCSE and vocational qualifications which conclude in Summer 2023.

The evening is a fantastic opportunity for you to gain an excellent insight into your child’s important final year at the academy, as well as ways in which you can support their academic progress and well-being.

The event will provide all families with the opportunity to:

  • Receive a presentation from Mr Stevens (Vice Principal) on the GCSE examinations and the support package the academy is providing your child this year;
  • Visit Curriculum information stalls to discuss with Directors of Learning about your child’s  curriculum and the types of assessments they will sit in the summer of 2023;
  • Receive Sixth Form information and entry guidance from Mr Harrison (Head of Sixth Form);
  • Access to a variety of revision materials and guidance linked to common misconceptions and exam techniques.

The evening is an important milestone in your child’s academic journey at The Halley Academy, and it is important that you are able to attend to support your child. Please note this is a general information evening and there will not be opportunities to meet separately with teachers. If you wish to discuss anything specific we have our academy Year 11 Parents’ Evening on Thursday 2nd February or contact your child’s small school

Thank you in advance for your support with your child’s academic progress this year. If you have any further questions about the evening, please do not hesitate to contact me or your child’s small school

Yours faithfully,

Mathieu Stevens
