Dear Parent/Carer

Year 13 Mock Examinations: w/c Monday 4th December 2023

From Monday 4th December, all of Year 13 will sit a series of mock examinations in the last fortnight of this module. This will give students the opportunity to practise sitting examinations and apply their learning to past questions. The feedback that students will receive from these papers in January from their teachers will be invaluable in helping them prepare for their final examinations in May 2024. Results from these examinations will also form part of your child’s UCAS applications.

The mock examinations will take place in the academy’s Main Hall and will follow the Joint Council of Qualifications (JCQ) standards and conditions. Students will sit papers in all subjects they will take this summer, with each paper designed to assess the knowledge and skills taught during sixth form. Students will be provided with their examination results in Module 3, and a copy will be sent to you electronically for your reference.

Students must attend the academy as per their normal timetable if they do not have an exam with the exception of 13th December when they will only need to attend if they have an exam. All students are expected to attend the academy each day in line with the Sixth Form dress code and bring a black pen and pencil. Students should bring their Chromebooks to the academy to support their studies.

During this time we recommend that students get plenty of rest, maintain a healthy diet and talk to you or the academy staff if they feel stressed or anxious about the exams. Please continue to support and motivate your child during this time and in the build-up to the examinations this summer. If you feel that your child requires further support or if you have any questions regarding the mock examinations, please contact the Hawking School.

Please find attached a copy of the examination timetable. The academy strongly recommends that your child prepares fully for these examinations, with all learning resources available via their Google Classroom.

Yours faithfully,

Mr James Cowie
Head of Hawking School
