Bank Holiday for the State Funeral of Queen Elizabeth II

Dear Parent/Carer,

Following the announcement from Buckingham Palace of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, a period of National Mourning has started and will continue until the end of the State Funeral.  The date of the State Funeral is Monday 19th September 2022. This will be a bank holiday and the academy will close on this day. Students will return to the academy as usual on Tuesday 20th September to follow their normal Tuesday timetable.

The students have been discussing the Queen’s life and the impact of her leadership on the national and global community in tutor time, and will remember her with a minute of silence on Friday 16th September. As an academy, we plan to plant a rose shrub known as Queen Elizabeth, in her memory.

We understand that this might be a difficult time for some students and you are welcome to contact your child’s small school should they require any support. Students are also aware that they can access support from their small school independently should they need it.

As we come together as a nation for this historical moment, I wish you all the very best for this bank holiday weekend.

Yours faithfully,

John Dixon

Principal
