Dear Parents/Carers,
Sixth Form Open Evening, Thursday 23rd November 2023
I am writing to invite you and your child to the Sixth Form Open Evening, which will take place in our Main Hall at The Halley Academy on Thursday 23rd November between 5:00pm and 6.30pm.
This is an exciting time for students to be joining our Sixth Form (Hawking School). We are proud to be one of the only Ofsted rated “Outstanding” post-16 providers in the borough of Greenwich, and our Year 13 results in 2023 saw students achieve above international averages.
Our Open Evening will be a great opportunity for you to meet with members of the Sixth Form team to discuss how students are supported academically and pastorally in Years 12 and 13, investigate the different pathways available, and explore the individual subjects on offer with members of the relevant faculties.
The Halley Academy offers four routes in our Sixth Form (more information is available here, in our prospectus):
- An academic/vocational programme through the International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme (IBCP), where students choose a career-related subject and supplement this with two academically rigorous IB Diploma subjects equivalent to 3 or 4 A-Levels. This programme also includes the CP Core, which incorporates four hours per week of personal, interpersonal and professional development.
- An academic programme consisting of International Baccalaureate Diploma subjects, equivalent to 3 or 4 A-Levels.
- A vocational programme, where students study a range of career-related BTEC subjects, equivalent to 3 or 4 A-Levels.
- T Level programmes that combine study in school with a one day per week industry placement.
