Year 12 Cultural Capital Week – Friday 14th to Thursday 20th July 2023

Dear Parents/Carers,

I am delighted to share with you our Year 12 Programme for this year’s Cultural Capital Week which will be held from Friday 14th July to Thursday 20th July. The usual student timetable will be suspended for these days, with students returning to their normal timetable for the final day of the Academy year.

All students will be engaged in a variety of experiences throughout the Academy week as follows:

  • exploring higher education opportunities, apprenticeships and employment;
  • gaining key employability, interview and money management skills;
  • working in groups on cross-curricular projects and activities which will help them develop a range of teamwork, project management and project solving skills as well as think more laterally and critically across the curriculum.

An overview of the programme is detailed below:

Events/Activities

CEIAG: Life Skills after Education

Students will engage in a suite of workshops to explore life as an apprentice, budget for student life, and gain key interview skills.

8.25am to 2.45pm

Dress Code: Smart business dress

Interdisciplinary Project

Students will work in groups across subject areas to meet an aspirational brief.

For students studying IB sciences, this will form a key part of their Group 4 project.

CEIAG: My Pathways

Students will explore the range of opportunities and destinations available when they leave education, and begin identifying key priorities and pathways to achieve their goals.

CEIAG: Applications and Statements

Students will begin drafting personal statements for university applications, or supporting statements for apprenticeships and employment.

They will also register their UCAS accounts and receive support to begin completing their applications.

8.25am to 2.00pm
